Higher Artistic Education (HAE)
Higher studies in music, dance, dramatic art, conservation and restoration of cultural assets, design and plastic arts, which are dependant of the Department of Education of the Balearic Islands Government, have been within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) since the academic year 2010-2011. Since 2015, AQUIB is the official body responsible for follow-up and accreditation of higher artistic education.
Verification of HAE programmes
Verification of higher artistic education degrees is carried out through a collaborative agreement with the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya).
Follow-up of HAE programmes
AQUIB is actively engaged in the creation of a program for the follow-up of higher artistic education programmes. As part of this initiative, the Agency is currently in the process of crafting a guide that harmonizes the intricacies and specific aspects of these educational programmes. Within this framework, adjustments will be made to adapt the procedures and guidelines governing the follow-up process of official bachelor's and master's programmes.
Accreditation of HAE programmes
The methodology for accreditation employed by AQUIB in official university programmes forms the basis for the renewal process of accreditation for higher artistic education. Similar to other activities undertaken by the Agency, this process is grounded in the application of European ESG standards regarding criteria and quality assurance guidelines. Thus, the accreditation renewal process assesses the quality of educational programmes and their outcomes, transparency and public information availability, the suitability and competence of the teaching staff, the efficiency of teaching and learning support procedures, as well as the effective establishment of internal quality assurance systems.
Support to HAE institutions
In accordance with the transparency requirements expected of higher education institutions within the framework of the European Higher Education Area (EEES), educational institutions are mandated to establish and publicly disclose formal policies and internal quality assurance systems for the academic programs they offer. AQUIB will extend its support to the development of such systems for higher artistic education programmes, utilizing guidelines and frameworks akin to those employed for ensuring the quality of university programmes.
