Artistic Study Programmes

Higher Artistic Education (HAE)

Higher studies in music, dance, dramatic art, conservation and restoration of cultural assets, design and plastic arts, which are dependant of the Department of Education of the Balearic Islands Government, have been within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) since the academic year 2010-2011. Since 2015, AQUIB is the official body responsible for follow-up and accreditation of higher artistic education. Also, verification of this studies are achieved through a collaboration agreement between AQUIB and the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya).

Accreditation of HAE titles

AQUIB adapts its methodology for the accreditation of official university qualifications to accreditate higher artistic education programmes. In line with the Agency's actions, this process is based on the application of ESG standards in terms of European quality assurance criteria and guidelines. Thus, the accreditation process monitors the quality of the training programs and their results, transparency and public information, aptitude and adequacy of the teaching staff, efficiency of the didactic and learning support procedures, as well as effective development of internal quality assurance systems.

HAE title follow-up

AQUIB is working on a future follow-up program for higher artistic education study programs that be drafted in a specific guide. This document will bring together the singularities and particularities of artistic education. To this end, the model of our procedures and follow-up guides for official bachelor's and master's degrees will be adapted.

Support to HAE institutions

In accordance with the transparency required at the university and higher education institutions or centers within the framework of the EHEA, educational institutions must adopt policies and internal quality assurance systems (ISQA) for their formally established and publicly available teaching programmes. AQUIB will support the creation of an internal quality assurance system for higher artistic education programmes. This system will be based on similar guides and structures established for other study programmes.
