Quality management

In line with its activities, AQUIB has implemented a quality management system based on the UNE-EN ISO 9001 standard. This entails a structured management approach centred around a process map that has been previously established, along with a strong commitment from the agency’s governing bodies to a quality policy that guides all its actions.

The implementation of this system is a strategic decision aimed at:

  1. Continuously improving AQUIB’s actions, services, and organisation.
  2. Adapting to the changes in the higher education system of the Balearic Islands.
  3. Ensuring an efficient system.
  4. Complying with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as all commitments undertaken by the organisation.

This commitment to quality extends to all agency staff and professionals acting on its behalf.

On 15 March 2007, the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR) awarded AQUIB the Company Registration Certificate and the right to use the AENOR mark under registration number ER-0347/2007, certifying that its management system complies with the UNE-EN ISO 9001 standard. The certification ceremony took place at the Agency’s headquarters on 7 May 2007. In February 2025, AQUIB successfully passed its latest follow-up audit.

Scope of the quality management system

AQUIB’s quality management system covers the following areas:

  1. Accreditation and preliminary evaluation of contracted teaching and research staff within the Balearic Islands’ university system.
  2. Assessment of the merits of both civil servant and contracted teaching and research staff at the University of the Balearic Islands.
  3. Monitoring of official university programmes.
  4. External evaluation of applications for research staff training grants.
  5. Renewal of accreditation for official university programmes.
